Center for Internal Medicine and Surgery (ZIMC)

At a high number of cases, the ZIMC examines and treats all diseases of the gastro-intestinal system, the liver and the pancreas with in- and outpatients. The focus is on painless endoscopic diagnostic of stomach and intestines and on the gentle non-invasive therapy of polyps, tumors and stenoses, boasting excellent diagnostic and therapeutic results. Surgery covers benign and malign diseases of the interior abdominal organs, the endocrine organs (thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal gland) and the body surface.

Being part of the Westdeutsches Magenzentrum (West German Stomach Center), extended and complex tumor operations are performed on the highest medical level based on the recent scientific knowledge and guidelines. There is a special expertise in minimal-invasive surgical treatment (keyhole surgery) of the thyroid, the gall bladder, the groin, of reflux diseases and diaphragmatic hernia, and on the colon and rectum. Another focal point is the application of the transanal endoscopic micro-surgery (TEM) and Coloproctology.
